EagleBurgmann - Stuffing-Box Packing, Heavy-Duty Couplings, Magnetic Couplings, Gas-Lubricated Sealing Systems and Elastomer-Free Metal-Bellows SealsEagleBurgmann is one of the world's leading manufacturers of seal systems, currently employing 4,100 people in over 50 subsidiaries and joint-ventures worldwide. 2005 sales reached €342 million. Items produced by EagleBurgmann are safe, reliable and can be utilised in virtually all industries, including power stations, the chemical industry, refineries, shipbuilding, marine engineering, aerospace, offshore installations, automotive engineering, paper-making and sugar-production. EagleBurgmann provides:
ISARTHERM®-FLEX-KIN STUFFING-BOX PACKINGBurgmann's Isartherm-Flex-KIN is a stuffing-box packing for high-pressure and high-temperature valves. It is made of expanded graphite foil, reinforced with an Inconel® core for greater stability under-pressure, and has a corrosion inhibitor to prevent spindle corrosion. Isartherm-Flex-KIN provides outstanding elasticity, low shaft-stress, and high cross-sectional density and structural strength. Isartherm-Flex-KIN is physiologically safe, with a pH chemical stability of 0-14. It is ideal for refineries, the petrochemicals industry and power stations. Isartherm-Flex-KIN's operating-limits are 500bar operating pressure and 2m/s sliding velocity, and it can withstand temperatures of -50°C to +500°C. MAK66 MAGNETIC COUPLINGSMAK66 magnetic couplings are available with zirconium-oxide ceramic containment-shells, which provide higher operating temperatures and excellent corrosion-resistance. Customised models can be produced. Ceramic containment-shells can operate in 16bar vacuums and 300°C temperatures. They are ideal for vacuum pumps and fans, ventilators, and applications involving rotation speeds of over 3600min-1. MAK685 AND NMB HEAVY-DUTY COUPLINGSMAK685 and NMB heavy-duty magnetic-couplings offer a wide range of applications in the higher pressure and performance range. The MAK685 is ideal for API 685-compliant process pumps with a power-output up to 90kW. The modular coupling concept for both original and retrofitted pumps is based on the proven MAK66 series, and available in two solenoid variants: samarium-cobalt for operating temperatures up to 350°C and neodymium-iron-boron for up to 120°C. Each coupling can therefore be optimally matched to specific operating conditions and performance requirements. The circulation of the product-lubricated friction bearing is separate from the can's cooling flow. This gives the friction-bearing enhanced operational efficiency, even in applications involving low-viscosity media. A combination with coolable or heatable bearings is possible. The gas content is led away from the can compartment via a hollow shaft, ensuring the friction bearing is not subject to dry running. The NMB heavy-duty coupling extends the application range of magnetically coupled pumps up to 300kW driving power, while simultaneously ensuring optimum efficiency. The patented can-technology reduces eddy currents by up to 95%, greatly increasing cost-efficiency. The operating limits for MAK685 and NMB heavy-duty magnetic-couplings are:
RGS GAS-LUBRICATED SEALING SYSTEMThe RGS gas-lubricated sealing system is ideal for media containing solids and abrasives such as crude oil, waste-water or gypsum slurry. The gas-pressurised sliding faces with bidirectional U-grooves enable a non-contacting operation. The RGS is double-pressure balanced and therefore remains closed during a buffer-gas system failure, functioning as a firmly-closed single mechanical-seal. The RGS gas-lubricated sealing system is ready-to-install, with a fully customisable design. Its operating limits are:
TDGS ELASTOMER-FREE METAL-BELLOWS SEALThe TDGS is a high-efficiency gas-lubricated seal, optimally suited for single-stage steam turbines of the petrochemical and chemical industries. The TDGS provides wear-free operation and extremely low leakage-rates, and has a V-groove notable for its inclined groove-bottom. With no sharp edges at the groove exit where dirt particles can accumulate, all particles are drawn through the sealing gap, providing self-cleaning. The TDGS gas-lubricated seal also possesses an Inconel metal-bellows as secondary seal for the stationary seal-face, ensuring interruption-free operation even at 450°C. An operating-pressure limit of 25bar and an attainable sliding-velocity of 120m/s make the TDGS suitable for steam turbines with shaft diameters up to 180mm. The TDGS gas-lubricated seal prevents dense-fogging forming around the turbine at low external temperatures. Advantages of the TDGS gas-lubricated seal include:
The operating limits for the TDGS are:
