Calder Industrial Materials have recently supplied a large and international turnkey contractor operating in the engineering, construction and drilling offshore sector with lead ballast weights.
These were used as subsea ballast in a deep water oilfield in Brazil. Totalling a weight of 850t, the ballast weights were assembled at our purpose-built manufacturing facility during a challenging three-month period.
Although Calder have been manufacturing lead weights for more than 250 years, this is by far the biggest order to date for this specialist product and it is hoped that more deepwater projects will yield further orders for our bespoke product.
