Fleximark Stainless System Perfect for Oil and Gas Platform

Over 100,000 Fleximark® cable markers are being used to distinguish electrical cabling on an oil and gas platform in the North Sea. Operated by BP Norge AS, the Valhall rig supplies Teesside and Emden in Germany.
Customized stainless steel markers from the Fleximark® range have been attached to thousands of different cables and components on the rig, including drilling machinery, instrumentation and electrical equipment in areas such as the maintenance module and living quarters. With safety engineers can easily identify a top priority, Fleximark´s simple yet effective labeling solution ensures all types of cabling, from high-voltage power to telecommunications. Given the quantity and complexity of the Valhall contract, Fleximark's FCC (Fleximark® Customized Concept) system was chosen, with text specifications supplied as Microsoft Excel files via e-mail. On receipt of data, individual markers were processed, sorted for easy handling and dispatched with any reference information as required. Average turnaround time is one or two days, although for small additional orders, markers can often be produced and delivered in a matter of hours to meet project deadlines.
The Fleximark® Stainless system is designed to meet the demands of tough and hazardous industrial environments, offering vital resistance to potential fire, water and chemical attack in the interests of safety. The highly durable markers have embossed characters that can be read even if they get dirty or are painted, and being low-smoke and halogen-free, they are particularly suitable for the offshore oil and gas industry. They can be attached to flat surfaces with rivets or screws using the holes provided, or fixed securely to cables or other round objects, such as pipes or hoses, with cable ties.
Fleximark® products are available in a number of different systems to suit a wide range of applications and industries. Markers can be supplied ready-made, or depending on the system, characters can simply be snapped off pre-punched strips and inserted into a standard holder.
