MCT Brattberg - Seal Blocks for Cables and Pipes

MCT Brattberg's original system for cable and pipe transits has set the standard at sea as well as on land. Since the early 1950s, MCT Brattberg has specialised in fire proof and pressure-sealed transits. MCT Brattberg provides transits for ships and oilrigs, and quality testing and classification has been essential.

CABLE AND PIPE SEALING

The Brattberg standard system can seal cables and pipes from 4mm to 168mm. There are three different types of seal blocks; all are part of the same concept. StandardBlocks can be combined in the same frame with AddBlocks and U-blocks, since they all follow the same original series of measurement. The installation is simple and no special tools are needed.

The seal is created when the blocks are pressed together in the frame by use of the compression system. Yet this simple concept is much more than a fire barrier and pressure seal. It withstands also smoke, ageing, radiation, explosion and vibration, and has proven unpalatable to rats, bugs and other vermin.

STANDARDBLOCK SEAL BLOCK

The StandardBlocks is based on the original patent. It's the first choice when one is certain of the cable diameter. Cable diameters other than standard dimensions can be supplied to order.

ADDBLOCK SEAL BLOCK

The AddBlocks is the solution when you are not sure in advance of the exact dimension of the cable or pipe. Each AddBlock can be adapted to five different cable dimensions. The block has four insert sheets, which can be peeled off. With these fitted in the block it can be adapted to five different cable dimensions. Thanks to the locking devices the insert remain in position and there is no risk of "telescoping".

U-BLOCK

The U-Block is complement to both the StandardBlock and AddBlock. With the U-Block it is possible to change the outer dimensions of a block so a narrow cable can be placed beside a larger on the same row.

These blocks are made of a synthetic polymer of the EPDM rubber type called Lycron. It is developed by MCT Brattberg to resist all demands that are made on cable transits at sea. The blocks are manufactured using the injection moulding process that gives exact measurements and a guarantee for the integrity of the transit.

WELDING FRAMES FOR VARIABLE TEMPERATURES

A ship's bulkhead and an oilrig are often in motion and are also subject to expansion and contraction due to temperature variation. Our frames are made with a welding quality to ensure our frames are robust enough for these conditions. We have different frames for different demands and applications.

PIPE SEALING

There is one solution for each dimension. Our RGP system for pipe sealing takes all pipe dimensions from 4mm to 168mm.

We operate all over the world. You can get more information about our total programme on our website.
