US Department of the Interior has released interim safety measures report following the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

On 30 April 2010, the President directed the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a thorough review of this event and to report, within 30 days, on what, if any, additional precautions and technologies should be required to improve the safety of oil and gas exploration and production operations on the outer continental shelf.

On 27 May 2010, the US Department of the Interior released the report ‘Increased Safety Measures for Energy Development on the Outer Continental Shelf’. The report is now available in the public domain through www.doi.gov (see press release dated 27 May 2010 – Salazar Calls For etc) where a link is provided.
