Sullom Voe Terminal

Sullom Voe Terminal is one of the largest oil and liquefied gas terminals in Europe. Its main purpose is to act as a buffer between the producing fields offshore and the tankers waiting to ship oil to the refineries worldwide.

Objective

Oxifree UK were employed via Bilfinger to and directly via BP to ensure aridity of the isolation pad and prevent electrolytic access, whilst providing resistance to the current flowing through the coating.

Project

A team of two senior Oxifree supervisory staff were detached to the Sullom Voe Gas Transfer Terminal to provide full body coating to a valve and pipe support bracket deemed as a potential source of spark and ignition.

The coating involved a transfer valve that measured approximately 5ft diameter and a pipe support bracket measuring approximately 3ft across. I minuscule operational window existed of 3 days and 6 hour daylight a day.

The project was successfully completed within the timescale.
