The Hempaxane Family - third generation polysiloxane coatings Hempel's third generation polysiloxane topcoats - The Hempaxane Family - offers standout performance benefits, meets applicable regulatory requirements and provides a more environmentally friendly profile. Hempaxane Classic 55000 is an improved version of a current popular product (Hempaxane 55000) and Hempaxane Light 55030 is a lighter dft (dry film thickness) version which adds cost control benefits.
Internal flexibilisers contribute to top tests results Polysiloxanes have extraordinary properties, but what gives. The Hempaxane Family its third generation improved technology are the internal flexibilisers incorporated in the binder structure which make it twice as flexible as competitive products. Testing also showed it excelled in tests for abrasion and impact resistance, adhesion, elongation, cyclic ageing, water vapour permeability resistance and internal stress.
LIGHT VERSION TOO
Similarly, top performing Hempaxane Light 55030, the lighter dft version, has the same range of performance qualities and the internal flexibilisers. It controls costs with the need for less coating, less application time and faster drying. It is ideal as a decorative and protective finish where low DFT topcoat can be applied but resistance to high corrosive environments is needed.
REGULATORY AND HSE PROFILE
Both the Hempaxane Classic and Hempaxane Light have a high volume of solids, low HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants), and are free of hazardous isocyanates and lead. Hempaxane products are compliant with VOC & EU regulations, and are pro-environment. That translates to a better proposition for business and for everybody.
DESCRIPTION AND RECOMMENDED USES
Both the Hempaxane Classic and Hempaxane Light are two-component, high-solids, high-gloss, epoxy polysiloxane hybrid enamels with excellent gloss and colour retention. The third generation key advance is the incorporation of the internal flexibilisers in the binder which improve performance. The finished hard and tough coating created has excellent gloss retention and chemical resistance, making it easier to clean. It is also resistant to impact and abrasion.
The Hempaxane Family products are recommended as an isocyanate free, glossy decorative and protective finishing coat for use in severely corrosive atmospheric environments. A few examples are chemical and petrochemical plants, bridges, airports, offshore platforms and wind power plants. Where normal low DFT for topcoats can be used, Hempaxane Light 55030 is recommended.
They both have a wide application window and can cure down to 0 degrees centigrade.
