Onsite Treatment Technologies - Solutions for the Handling, Processing and Treatment of Drilling Waste Material

In order to meet the demand for innovative waste management, Onsite Treatment Technologies (OTT) was founded in April, 2002. OTT provides a wide range of solutions for environmental protection and emissions control. For the handling of drill cuttings, including swarf removal systems, custom built drilling-waste management products and vacuum units, as well as a thermal treatment process to separation liquids and solids for easier handling and disposal. These efficient and durable tools are suitable for both wet and dry hazardous materials.

Swarf removal system (SRS)

The swarf removal system (SRS) is designed to remove metal swarf, large pieces of cement, pieces of casing and other debris from the circulating fluid during casing milling operations.

The process is based on two rotating concentric drums whose axis is tilted at a slight angle to the horizontal (up to 10°). The inner drum has large (10mm) perforations and the outer drum has replaceable fine mesh panels (typically 3mm square mesh).

The circulating fluid and waste pass through a flow control device into the inner drum. The fluid passes through the perforations and meshes into a collecting tank below the drums and via this tank back to the platform mud circuit. The swarf is retained within the drums, and due to the angle of inclination and the rotation of the drum is caused to travel down the length of the drum exiting the open end and by way of a chute into waste skips for disposal.

The equipment, once set up and tuned to the flow rate of milling fluid, requires no manual operator intervention other than to replace waste skips as and when filled.

Drum tilting and rotation are achieved through a simple hydraulic system from an integral 2.2kW electro / hydraulic power pack. There are few points of maintenance and these are designed for ease of access.

Custom built drilling-waste management products

Thermal treatment

OTT uses the THERMAL-D system, which is a material separation process that utilizes heat applied at sufficient temperature to rapidly vaporise fluids in waste materials, thereby enabling separate handling of relatively inert solids and a relatively small quantity of vapour. The Thermal-D system is an indirectly heated process that relies totally on conduction of heat to the waste material to promote separation of liquids and hydrocarbons from the solid matrix.

Vacuum units for rig cleaning

OTT vacuum units are a compact and environmentally friendly solution for easy rig cleaning. They are extremely user friendly and carry the following minimum certifications:

Our vacuum units are easy to move, easy to install and offer high capacity. OTT vacuum systems are suitable for the cleaning of deck spillage, spits, shaker rooms, and sack-stores.
