Inflatable oil containment booms

Vikoma manufactures a range of 'vulcanised' neoprene and PU inflatable oil containment booms, designed for safe, easy deployment, highly efficient oil containment and long lifespan.

HI Sprint neoprene single-point inflation boom is supplied in a range of sizes for use in offshore, coastal and port or harbour oil spills. The design and construction ensure excellent oil containment due to flexibility and outstanding wave-following characteristics.

Shoreguardian boom, in neoprene or polyurethane fabric, provides outstanding beach sealing for spills in coastal and intertidal regions to protect beaches and shorelines and contain spilled oil.

Sentinel boom is a fast to deploy, inflatable boom for containing spilled oil in inshore and nearshore conditions. It can also be supplied as a foam-filled boom for permanent deployment to protect water inlets or outlets.

Oil skimmer systems

Vikoma offers the Komara range of oleophilic disc skimmers for effective recovery of oil. Disc skimming systems offer highly efficient 98% oil pick up.

The Komara disc skimmer range includes the Komara 7, Komara 15 Duplex, Komara 20, Komara 30 and Komara 50, covering a range of oil recovery scenarios from small lakes to offshore oil slicks.

The Komara 7 is lightweight and portable for use in confined spaces, such as harbours, marinas and shallow waters. The Komara 15 Duplex can be converted to a brush skimmer using interchangeable disc / brush cassettes to skim a wide range of oils, while the Komara 50 and Komara SeaSkimmer 50 can collect oil at 50m³/hr and are ideal for offshore use.

Toothed disc oil skimmers

Komara Star and SeaDevil toothed disc skimmers can recover highly viscous oils with minimal water pick up. Thick oil is drawn into the star disc bank and powerful pumps transfer oil to storage tanks.

Weir skimmers and T-disc skimmers for industrial use

We offer a range of weir skimmers for marine and industrial use. The high-capacity Cascade weir skimmer can recover up to 120m³/hr, while smaller skimmers are ideal for in-tank skimming.

For industrial environments Vikoma's T-disc skimmers can operate around the clock, and recovered oils can be blended for use in other oil products.

Oil storage tanks for recovered oil

To store recovered oil, a range of temporary storage solutions include Viko Tank and Star Tank for use on land, and inflatable oil storage barges and flexible floating storage tanks with a storage capacity up to 100m³.

Oil containment and skimming system for high-volume spills / well head blow out

The Vikoma weir boom is a combined oil containment and skimming system. It has an encounter width of up to 200m. With the capacity to recover up to 210m³/hr, it is ideal for large oil spills in open oceans such as well head blowouts.

This high-volume oil spill response system comprises a flexible neoprene boom with integral weir skimmers. The weir boom is deployed from an oil spill response vessel. Collected oil is then pumped along internal tubes back to a storage tank or coastal tanker. The system was first used in the Ixtoc Spill in the Gulf of Mexico and has since been re-designed to make it more efficient and increase recovery rate.

OSR equipment: hydraulic powerpacks, transfer pumps and dispersant spray systems

Vikoma offers a complete range of equipment for oil spill response (OSR) including powerful hydraulic powerpacks, transfer pumps, and dispersant sprays systems such as the VikoSpray and the TC3 helicopter dispersant spray system.

OSR vessels

A range of OSR vessels is available to perform spill response duties both close to shore and in offshore situations, including the Delta Responder, Spill Cat, EnviroCat, Ranger and the VikoSprint Trimaran vessel.
