AKD Engineering offers an engineering, manufacturing and offshore service which is second-to-none for long-term supply partnerships. Dedicated to providing cost-effective, top quality, medium to heavy fabrication, machining and assembly services to a wide range of industries since 1955, AKD Engineering is a name to depend on.

Our extensive facilities enable us to provide you with the support you require worldwide, both onshore and offshore. AKD can provide a full suite of offshore services, including offshore personnel, which will support the installation of any of the fabricated items that you may require on any installation in the world.

General and high-integrity specialist offshore fabrication facility

In 2004 AKD invested in modern premises purpose-built on 7.5 acres in Lowestoft, UK, to cope with its continual growth and client requirements. The extent of the site, combined with continual investment and the range of facilities, makes it one of the best-equipped facilities of its type.

Our facilities allow us to carry out a wide range of fabrication projects ranging from general fabrication such as landing platforms, deck extensions and protection structures, to high-integrity specialist fabrication such as access bridges, subsea spools and flowbases. AKD has the facility to tackle single-machined items up to 10t and pre-assembled units (PAUs) up to 300t.

Clean offshore fabrication shop with 10t overhead craneage

AKD’s largest modern fabrication shop spans some 2,000m², handling shop fabrications up to 100t. AKD also possess a dedicated clean fabrication shop with 10t overhead craneage for projects constructed from high nickel alloy materials.

Open-air quayside fabrication facility

AKD’s also has access to a 10,000m² quayside facility. This enables AKD to execute open-air quayside fabrications up to 500t for direct load-out onto barges and vessels.

High-integrity welding for complex structures, pressure vessels and piping

AKD prides itself on its high-integrity welding capabilities, and has specialist skills in welding materials including carbon steels, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex and other exotic alloys. Welding procedures are qualified to AWS D1.1, EEMUA, ASME 1X, NORSOK, and BS EN 288, BS4515 pt 1 and 2 and ES 124/106 standards, and utilise a wide range of industrial welding techniques for complex structures, pressure vessels and piping.

AKD is at the forefront of welding technology with an extensive library of welding procedures supported by a team of highly qualified welders working on all types of welding processes including MMA, FCAW, TIG and SAW.

You also have a choice of either providing us with the drawings of your fabrication requirements, or letting us manage the design of your requirements.

Offshore installation commissioning, upgrades, refurbishment, repair and decommissioning

In addition to AKD’s core business activities, we also offer a full range of offshore services. AKD can provide a full suite of offshore services to cover most work-scopes associated with decommissioning / installation and commissioning, upgrades, refurbishment and repair work on any offshore installation in the world.
