D&F Green Decom - Offshore Rig Decommissioning and Mobile Machining

D&F Green Decom provide offshore decommissioning and mobile machining, utilising remote controlled equipment and groundbreaking technology. D&F Green Decom has developed pioneering expertise in the removal of offshore installations, ensuring environmentally sustainable platform abandonment. Their methods also reduce the cost level and time frame, as well as the exposure of staff to potentially dangerous operations.

In addition to platform removal and related engineering services, D&F Green Decom assists with the planning and execution of cutting operations in connection with complex modifications, as well as in mobile machining.

OFFSHORE AND DECOMMISSIONING REMOVAL EQUIPMENT

In order to reduce the risk involved in removal operations, whilst decreasing the required manpower, (and so the cost level) D&F Green Decom has invested heavily in the development of remote controlled equipment that can be operated from as far as 1km away. The company has devised a comprehensive equipment range specially designed for offshore operations. This toolbox consists of:

  • Several customised diamond wire saws
  • Ultra-high pressure water cutting equipment
  • Multi-purpose tool carrier
  • BallChain® diamond saw
  • Turtle cutting tool (for cuts below the sea bed)
  • Hand tools

With its current equipment and technology, D&F Green Decom has a unique market position and is able to carry out cuts of up to 30m x 30m.

SPECIALIST CUTTING ENGINEERING AND ANALYSIS

D&F Group offers specialist engineering services for the preparation and design of cutting operations. Using advanced computer simulations (including natural force dynamics) and process analyses, the company arranges cut optimisation that incorporates both safety and financial aspects such as the re-use value of the steel and labour intensity.

In the area of cut weight management, rope access technology is progressing, in parallel with a reduced demand for support and heavy lifter vessels. These considerations are at the centre of D&F Green Decom's approach to decommissioning, which aims to save time and increase economic performance.

D&F Green Decom has an excellent track record for complex cutting operations in connection with major modification works. Using remote controlled mobile equipment or even handheld cutting tools, the company is capable of operating even in areas with extremely limited space. When deploying ultra-high pressure water, the cutting operation is even defined as cold work and can be carried out under full platform operation.

Before executing cutting operations, the task force is trained for the particular job, and tests are carried out at D&F Green Decom’s premises, if requested, under the supervision of the customer. The safety during operations is further ensured through the extensive use of remote controlled equipment, a highly skilled labour force and safeguarding cuts, which protect stability after the cutting operation.

MOBILE MACHINING

In order to serve its customers with complete modification solutions, D&F Green Decom also carries out mobile machining. Using state-of-the-art equipment, D&F Green Decom can perform mobile machining tasks with unrivalled accuracy

D&F Green Decom is determined to continuously advance decommissioning technology beyond today’s imagination. The company's ultimate goal is, through the advancement of decommissioning technology, to regain all natural resources possible for generations to come.

D&F Green Decom is a subsidiary of D&F Group – a total supplier in the fields of surface treatment, passive fire protection, insulation, engineering, architectural outfitting and access techniques – with comprehensive experience in a great number of maintenance, modification and new build projects both on- and offshore.
