Chemetron Fire Systems - Marine and Offshore Worldwide Fire ProtectionFor over 60 years, Chemetron Fire Systems has played a vital role in conjunction with marine and offshore corporations to anticipate potential risks and provide fire protection that will secure their investment in people, property and the environment. As a pioneer in fire suppression technology, Chemetron continues to meet changing industry requirements with start-to-finish solutions for special hazard extinguishing systems and agents, FM-200®, low pressure CO2, high pressure CO2, and water mist MULTIPLE HAZARD VERSATILITYChemetron Fire Systems offers protection for a range of applications in major hazards aboard tankers, cargo and passenger ships, plus mobile and stationary offshore drilling platforms. Major hazards are generally considered to be those spaces where a potential fire would be too severe to be controlled with manual fire fighting equipment.
CHEMETRON INTEGRATED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS FM-200Chemetron FM-200 is the most environmentally-friendly, clean agent fire suppression system for sensitive applications where people are present. FM-200 extinguishes fire with a combination of chemical-based fire inhibition and cooling. Patented by Great Lakes chemical corporation as a Halon 1301 replacement in 1993, FM-200 is safe, fast, efficient and effective. An existing system can be easily converted to FM-200. CARDOX® CARBON DIOXIDE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMSCARDOX carbon dioxide systems were introduced in 1939 as automatic, fixed installation low and high pressure systems that would provide fast, efficient, cost-effective fire protection. It is adaptable for a wide range of hazards. As a leader in developing and obtaining approval for low pressure CO2 systems for marine applications, CARDOX installed the world’s first LPCO2 system aboard ship in 1953. CARDOX carbon dioxide systems allow for minimal space and weight requirements as well as fast installation and service, and offer three independent means of system actuation. Automatic actuation, manual electric station and direct manual release HIGH PRESSURE CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHERSCylinder assemblies coupled with completer kits make up the basic storage components of a Chemetron high pressure CO2 system. The spun steel cylinders have a maximum capacity of 100lbs (45kg) each. Chemetron High Pressure CO2 systems offer these features and benefits:
LOW PRESSURE CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHERSA Chemetron low pressure CO2 system consists of a single insulated refrigerated pressure vessel with performance engineered controls to protect multiple hazards or afford frequent discharges for high risk hazards. These systems are best suited for applications where a large quantity of CO2 is required. WATER MIST FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMNatural, non-toxic, efficient and widely applicable, a Chemetron water mist system provides a fine water mist for effective protection without the deluge and damage of traditional water-based systems. In the forefront of water mist fire suppression technology, a Chemetron water mist system utilizes a very fine water spray with a high heat absorbing capacity and latent heat vaporization. THE CHEMETRON DIFFERENCEWhen planning and designing a fire protection system, Chemetron can meet the safety standards of all applicable national and/or international regulatory agencies in this highly demanding industry. Chemetron is committed to the protection of people, property and the environment with quick and positive suppression of fires which could endanger the vital operations of the vessel or facility.
