DURASTEEL FIRE RESISTANT SHEETS

Utilizing the engineered properties of the DuraSteel fire resistant sheets, DuraSystems are able to provide unique solutions for creating new or retrofit wall and ceiling assemblies, a wide range of hinged and sliding doors, transformer or other equipment barriers, shielding for cable trays, rated enclosures and fire-rated listed duct systems.

DuraSteel is a unique material. Its properties of high impact and moisture resistance, low sound transmission, structural strength, comparative light weight and demount-ability, combined with its proven fire and blast resistance has seen it used to date in a variety of applications for projects throughout the world.

FIRE WALLS, FLOORS, CEILINGS AND DOORS

The operations on oil and gas platform facilities, involve the extraction, handling, transportation, primary treatment and storage of hydrocarbons. The risks that arise from these operations are possible incidents of leakage, fire and explosion.

In view of the foregoing, it is necessary to protect the people and equipment and buildings of the plant with fire protection components. The purpose of these devices is to contain and prevent the propagation of a shock wave and / or fire using fire-retardant materials, thereby confining and securing strategic high-risk areas.

DuraSystems firewalls, floors, ceilings and doors are built using DuraSteel which provides the physical and chemical properties required to resist natural phenomena such as wind, earthquakes, fire and shock waves from a hydrocarbon explosion, the onslaught of the marine environment at sea and the proliferation of microorganisms and mould, without losing its structural integrity or fire resistant nature.

DuraSystems constructs each different type of firewall, i.e. "H-0" (walls capable of resisting hydrocarbon fires without thermal protection), "H-60" (walls capable of resisting hydrocarbon fires with thermal protection for one hour) and "H-120" (walls capable of resisting hydrocarbon fires with thermal protection for two hours), to the most stringent requirements and meet or exceed the requirements of Lloyds Register, DNV, LPC, SINTEF, BRE and other international approval organizations.

FIREBLAST

DuraSteel systems also provides engineered product to provide explosion and blast resistance followed by prolonged fire exposure. DuraSystems in conjunction with the Steel Construction Institute developed a computer program that designs blast resistant walls and doors that can resist hydrocarbon blasts and post blast fires.

Lloyds of London has provided certification that acknowledges approval of any wall designed under this program. This certificate is something few if any other product or companies has obtained.

ENCLOSURES, BARRIERS AND DUCTWORK

DuraSystems is able to provide protection for various life safety applications and equipment.

DuraSystems provides custom fire and blast enclosures for pipe, cable tray, valve actuators, fans, and compressors as well as other vital equipment used on platforms.

Also available is a pre-engineered patented modular barrier system that can be used to separate multiple and spare pieces of equipment from each other to stop the potential failures at the first piece of equipment. These are used to separate generators, transformers, pumps, and multiple other installations.

Ventilation systems can also be vital to life safety. DuraSystems provides ductwork for both, supply and exhaust systems that are fire and blast resistant.

PENETRATION SEALS

DuraSystems also provides a product for penetrations in fire and blast walls. DuraSTOP is an energy absorbing compound used to form seals around penetrations through walls, floors and ceilings. DuraSTOP performs equally well in concrete, masonry and proprietary systems such as DuraSteel.

DuraSTOP provides a seal that is water and gas tight that prevents the passage of chlorine and other toxic gases that could be generated in a fire. DuraSTOP will also withstand the thermal shock and erosive action of a hose stream during a fire.
