Cable coating systems

Fire Security’s FS1 and FS5 coating systems are able to upgrade existing cables to the highest fire technical standard. Fire Security is also able to repair any damage to the outer sheath / insulation, thereby extending the lifetime of the cables. No other coating system in the world has equal or better fire protection properties to FS1 and FS5.

Water-based intumescent coating system

FS1 is a water-based intumescent coating system that:

• Upgrades existing cables to become fire resistant in accordance with the IEC 331 standard
• Makes cables resistant to a hydrocarbon fire (up to 1,100°C)
• Makes the cables halogen-free (no releases of halogen)
• Has no heat increase as a result of coating
• Has a dry film thickness of only 0.7mm
• Has a smooth surface
• Is approved by all international classification societies

Water-based ablative coating system

Fire Security’s FS5 is a water-based ablative coating system that:

• Upgrades existing cables to become fire resistant in accordance with IEC 331 standard
• Makes cables resistant to a hydrocarbon fire (1, 100°C)
• Makes cables resistant to water, oil, mud and all kinds of chemicals
• Makes cables resistant to UV radiation
• Repairs cables that have suffered damage to the outer sheath
• Extends the lifetime of the cables
• Has no heat increase as a result of coating
• Has a dry film thickness of 1mm

• Improves the insulation property
