Solent Composite Systems - ProTek™ Composite Passive Fire and Blast Restraint SystemsSolent Composite Systems (SCS) designs and manufactures passive fire and blast restraint systems for jet fire and blast protection in the offshore oil and gas industry. The ProTek composite passive fire and blast restraint system embraces advanced composite material technology for the manufacture of fire and blast resistant structures and enclosures. Our specialised technology protects equipment and personnel in hazardous environments - offshore topsides, subsea and onshore. Health and safety are paramount in the manufacture, installation and operation of ProTek fire and blast protection systems. SCS has over 15 years offshore industry experience and has completed 600 maintenance-free installations of ProTek in oil and gas facilities around the world. SCS has ISO9001.2000 and Achilles certification. ProTek PFP systems have Lloyd's Register- and DNV-approval for protection against hydrocarbon jet fire, pool fire and gas cloud explosion blast conditions. ProTek composite protection structures are also used to provide impact and over-trawlable protection to subsea shutdown valves. ProTek APPLICATIONS IN JET FIRE AND BLAST PROTECTIONSolent's jet fire and blast protection systems are designed to operate in a wide range of offshore applications. ProTek systems can be used in Emergency Shut Down Valve (ESDV) enclosures, actuator protection enclosures, firewalls and blast walls and bulkheads, marine fire partitions, temporary refuge shelters and escape-ways and under-deck fire protection. Other applications include flexible riser PFP, riser hang-off protection, deluge skid protection, I tube fire and thermal insulation, pipe passive fire protection, splash-zone riser protection and subsea structures and encapsulations. ProTek FIRE AND BLAST STRUCTURAL COMPOSITE ENCLOSURESProTek fire and blast protection systems are made from a lightweight composite structural sandwich construction, comprising a thermal insulating core with epoxy-based structural reinforcement layers to withstand high blast pressure. An external ablative layer provides exceptional jet fire resistance and the phenolic and ceramic insulation core minimises heat transfer. An outer protective gel-coat provides outstanding long term weather resistance capable of meeting the extremes of worldwide climatic conditions. The bespoke designed ProTek panels are mounted on a corrosion resistant steel frame to resist wind and blast loads. ProTek panel thickness ranges from 10mm to 70mm. Typical weight at 50mm thickness is 25kg/m². Penetrations, vents and maintenance hatches are easily integrated into the ProTek composite panel. The weight-performance ratio of ProTek structures permits safe, quick, easy and cost effective installation with zero long term maintenance with no pollution risk or environmental impact. ProTek FIRE AND BLAST PERFORMANCE AND CERTIFICATIONProTek passive fire restraint systems have outstanding fire and blast resistance and have been tested by many international approved test houses, including, HSE Buxton, British Gas Spadeadam, SGS Yarsley, WFRC Warrington Fire Research, BRE Watford and SINTEF Energy Research Norway.
