Boskel Nigeria - Thermal Process Engineering and Environmental Management Equipment

Boskel was incorporated in Nigeria in 1989, with the aim of providing solutions to process and environmental problems experienced by Nigerian oil and gas process industries. Along the line of development, the aim broadened into complete design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of process plants and components. We offer:

  • Smokeless gas flares
  • Smokeless oil burners
  • Incinerators for waste
  • Thermal desorbers
  • Waste carbonisers
  • Air pollution control devices
  • Various process equipment

Smokeless flares for natural gas disposal

In 1991, we developed our smokeless flares for the safe and efficient disposal of excess natural gas produced by the oil and gas industry. The successful commercialisation of this development in 1992 by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) led to widespread technical publications and expositions. To date, 220 of Boskel's smokeless flares have been built and installed in various oil-producing locations in Nigeria for Shell where they are functioning properly.

Our flares have been produced for SPDC of Nigeria (east and west) and some other oil producers in Nigeria. This led to the complete replacement of all Shell's flares with Boskel's smokeless flares. In 2005, we began exporting Boskel flares to the Middle East.

Incinerators and thermal desorbers

We offer an integrated set of incinerator and scrubbers for hazardous waste disposal. Boskel incinerators and thermal desorbers (TDU) are used in our integrated waste management facility in Port Harcourt to treat industrial waste for numerous clients. Several smaller units of our incinerators have been installed in various teaching hospitals for the appropriate disposal of medical wastes. This programme is under the auspices of the Ecological Funds Office of the Presidency.

The quality assurance / quality control functions of the processes at Boskel are coordinated by highly trained and experienced staff. We are made up of 110 Nigerians, comprising engineers, scientists, welders, fitters, administration staff and helpers.

Custom-made process equipment and systems

Boskel's corporate strength lies in the ability to design, develop, fabricate, install, operate and maintain all our equipment / systems, and employ customer-centric engineers. This gives us the opportunity to design around any special needs our clients may have, thus providing unique and relevant engineering services for all our clients.

Process plant and component project experience

Boskel's project experience includes the following:

  • Design and construction of a lime calcination and hydration plant for Lynson Chemicals, 1989-1992
  • Design and construction of a fluidised bed pulveriser for talc and related minerals for Falcon Chemicals, 1991
  • Design and construction of a tapioca drying facility and burner for SPDC, 1991
  • Design, fabrication and installation of a water treatment plant for Lynson Chemicals in 1992
  • Conceptualisation and design of smokeless flares systems for the oil and gas industry in March 1991 – January 1992
  • Fabrication and demonstration of pilot units of the Boskel's flare for SPDC, December 1991 – February 1992
  • Fabrication, installation and commissioning of a full size unit of the smokeless flare system at Kokori for SPDC, June 1992 – August 1992
  • Call-off contract for the fabrication and supply of Boskel's smokeless flare systems for SPDC, February 1997 to date
