Peter Brotherhood Celebrates Record Order Intake in 2006

Peter Brotherhood Ltd, the Peterborough, UK-based steam turbine and gas compressor manufacturer, is celebrating a remarkable 2006.
The company has grown significantly over the past few years. In 2005 it recorded an order intake of £31 million pounds and in 2006 this rose to almost £55 million pounds - an increase in excess of 70 per cent.
During 2006 the company secured repeat business from many leading international companies including Aker Floating Production, Single Buoy Moorings Inc, Bergesen SA, Saipem SA, Foster Wheeler and Stone and Webster. Several new contracts were also won from companies including Jacobs Nederland BV based in Holland, Energetus in Portugal and Fred. Olsen Production AS in Norway.
Over recent years Peter Brotherhood has seen an increase in the number of contracts placed for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessels, refineries, petrochemical plants and for marine waste heat recovery applications.
The most recent marine waste heat recovery contract is for two 27 MW turbo-generator sets for Fred. Olsen Production. These will be the largest turbo-generator sets produced for an FPSO vessel and will be installed onboard the Knock Allan FPSO vessel, which will be moored off the coast of Gabon. Due to a continually growing order book Peter Brotherhood has increased its workforce by ten per cent. The recruitment of apprentices has also continued and was strengthened by a further intake in September 2006.
Commenting on the success, Stephen Fitzpatrick, managing director of Peter Brotherhood said: "2005 was a good year for us but 2006 has been even better and surpassed all our expectations. Our extensive experience in niche markets has been a major factor in us securing so many new contracts," he continued. "It is also down to the people we employ and the skills and knowledge they bring to us."
2007 is already shaping up to be another good year with a number of orders placed in the first month of the new financial year. These orders account for 20 per cent of this year's sales target.
This year is an important milestone for Peter Brotherhood as it celebrates 140 years in business and a century in Peterborough, following its move from London in 1907. It is also 100 years since the company designed and manufactured its first steam turbine.
