BRONSWERK Onboard Climate Engineering® - Offshore HVAC-R Systems, All-Air Systems, Water Chillers and Air-Handling Units

BRONSWERK Onboard Climate Engineering®, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a premier global provider of complete marine heating, ventilation and air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R) solutions for the merchant marine, military and offshore industries.

BRONSWERK customized HVAC-R solutions are designed to meet the individual needs of its clients, from conception to manufacture and after-sales service. We specialize in environmentally friendly systems that are engineered to perform in the most complex sea environments and comply with the highest international standards.

Through our innovative, team-oriented approach, BRONSWERK delivers HVAC-R solutions in a timely manner and at a competitive price. BRONSWERK is an accredited ISO 9001:2001 and our systems comply with all marine regulatory body requirements (Lloyds, DNV, RINA, ABS, Germanic Lloyds, etc.)

Offshore HVAC and refrigeration systems

BRONSWERK offers complete integrated HVAC and refrigeration systems, products, and support services for offshore drilling platforms, their residential accommodations and the work boats that service them.

At BRONSWERK we are driven to excellence in offshore HVAC-R design and are at the forefront of innovation. We know that offshore systems must withstand the most rigorous and often hazardous environmental conditions, and offer prolonged reliability. Our mission is to protect workers' health and safety by ensuring that risk in offshore workplaces is minimized. BRONSWERK's commitment to you is to deliver you an innovative, tailored HVAC-R solution at a competitive price, and on time.

Offshore HVAC-R and special projects have been engineered for locations worldwide, including drilling barges, semi-submersible drilling platforms and FPSOs off the US, Korea, Canada, Norway and Russia. We have partnered on the Hibernia, Sable Island, Terra Nova, Petrodrill and North Sea projects, among others.

Compact offshore HVAC-R systems

BRONSWERK offshore HVAC-R systems maintain designated levels of temperature, air change rate, humidity, fresh air quality and pressure. They provide cooling for high internal heat-gain spaces, and are quiet and low-vibration. Our products are compact and designed for platform space optimization. Your HVAC-R installation must perform in a challenging, remote sea location and be subject to severe climactic conditions, so high reliability is essential.

Stainless steel, marine-grade HVAC-R systems

Equipment exposed to extreme weather is constructed of stainless steel, marine-grade aluminum or titanium to ensure longevity. High-efficiency louver filtration systems are installed to remove the salt, water and dirt particles that can be present in offshore environments. Also, since these locations are not typically readily accessible, a logistic and lifecycle support program is essential.

Shock resistant and explosion-proof HVAC-R systems

Safety is a critical concern to your crew. Installations are shock resistant and explosion protected. Our engineers address fire and explosion issues when designing for offshore installations - including prevention, control and mitigation. Your system must perform regardless of hazards, including loss of platform stability (arising from collision or uncontrolled flooding), loss of position or emergency ingress of fire, smoke and gas.

HVAC fire dampers must close on demand so as not to compromise the quality of the atmosphere in the temporary refuge (TR) space. The dampers provide fire protection for the structure and HVAC inlet and outlet ducting, and also provide some sealing function to prevent excessive air outflow. Internal pressurisation is necessary to prevent air leakage from doors, windows, and drain systems and through the structures' cladding. They must perform for the specified TR endurance time, which is normally up to two hours.

All-air systems for offshore platforms

For offshore platform installations, BRONSWERK designs primarily 'all-air' systems that provide complete sensible and latent cooling capacity. Heating can be accomplished with the same air stream, either with the central system or in particular zones. A single air handling unit can provide heating and cooling to multiple compartments. The outside air is mixed with the return air from the conditioned space where individual adjustment of temperature can be done manually by opening / closing the supply air terminal boxes.

Custom-designed water chillers

BRONSWERK custom designs and manufactures water chillers that meet your specific requirements. These incorporate a water-cooled condenser that can include copper tubing and cast steel heads depending upon the requirements. The compressor is either open-hermetic or screw-type and the multi-circuit water cooled evaporators are plate or shell and tube.

Offshore air-handling units

Air-handling units for offshore use come pre-wired with piping connections extended to the exterior and are ready for onboard mounting. These high-pressure designs are encased by a double-skin enclosure that is insulated throughout. Noise is minimized with our custom-designed, low-profile integral discharge silencer. All fans, coils and controls meet marine-grade standards.
