Halton Marine has achieved an important milestone in the history of the business by manufacturing the 100,000th marine fire damper. This was completed at the factory on 9 December 2010.
Halton Marine factory located in Lahti, Finland, has manufactured fire dampers for the shipbuilding industry since the 1990s. Halton Marine’s fire dampers are widely used in different applications, including naval vessels and cruise ships as well as in oil and gas applications where they are typically installed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and gas between fire zones.
At Halton Marine, fire dampers are always manufactured and customised according to the customers’ needs.
“In the manufacturing of our fire dampers we offer structural flexibility, special steels, a wide range of accessories, and hazardous area components,” says Salla Ahlberg, Halton Marine marketing manager. “We do not carry stock as the equipment is tailored to the customer demands.”
“We have invested in high quality and the flexibility to meet our customers’ needs. This is essential so we can compete within the global business. The quality of our fire dampers is recognised by the leading ship owners, oil companies, and most major classification societies worldwide. A good example of this is our FDB2 fire and gas damper - the successor of FDB – the most widely sold marine fire damper in the world,” Salla Ahlberg adds.
Halton Marine fire dampers have been installed on many different projects over the years, including the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean International, Astute Class submarines operated by UK’s Royal Navy, and FPSO Akpo, a 310m-long floating production, storage and offloading vessel owned by TOTAL.
Halton Marine, the strategic business area of Halton Group, develops, manufactures and markets reliable, high-quality ventilation solutions specifically designed for different types of ships, oil and gas, and naval applications. Halton Marine’s main product groups are cabin ventilation, galley ventilation, airflow management and distribution as well as HVAC dampers.
