Voith Turbo in Crailsheim, Germany, has received an order for the most powerful Vorecon® variable-speed planetary gear built to date by Voith Turbo. The customer is China's largest compressor manufacturer Shenyang Blower Works (SBW), a state-owned company with approximately 2,700 employees located in the Liaoning province.

Shenyang Blower Works is building a new test field in which the Vorecon® will control the speed of the compressors. SBW compressors are primarily used in the oil and gas as well as the petrochemical industry. The Voith delivery scope includes the synchronous electric motor, variable-speed planetary gear Vorecon®, base frame, cooler and control system.

The 30 MW Vorecon®, represents a new power range for Voith Turbo’s Variable Speed Drives for compressor applications. Previous Voith variable-speed compressor drives were rated at approximately half this power. With this order, Voith Turbo is not only anticipating a breakthrough into the Chinese compressor market, but growth in the international high power compressor market as well.

Voith Turbo, the specialist for hydrodynamic drive, coupling and braking systems for road, rail and industrial applications, as well as for ship propulsion systems is a Group Division of Voith.

Voith sets standards worldwide for papermaking technology, power transmission, energy technology, and industrial services. Voith was founded on January 1st, 1867. With annual sales of approximately € 3.3 billion, 24 000 employees and 200 locations worldwide, Voith is one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe.
