Largest Vorecon to Enter Service in USA

The demand for natural gas in the USA is continuously rising, which has led to the construction of several large natural gas pipelines in recent years. Among them is the Guardian Northern Border pipeline leading through the states of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The 142-mile (225-kilometer) pipeline has been in service since 2002. The operator ONEOK Partners has now ordered two Voith Vorecon type RWC for two new compressor stations. Rated at 33 MW, the two Vorecon, which will be delivered in 2008, are the largest variable-speed planetary gears ever produced by Voith.
