GE Speedtronic / Westinghouse WDPF turbine controls for gas turbines

Replacement parts for early model gas turbines are becoming increasingly difficult to source replacement parts for. This is also the case for the electronic controls that they were installed with, such as Westinghouse WDPF turbine controls. Many OEMs no longer support the early turbine control systems that were originally installed, thus making if harder for operators to maintain proper inventories of on-hand spare parts.

Often, the only option offered by the OEM is to repair the part, which can take several weeks, and cost nearly half of the retail price new (which has a 14 week lead time or more). As a result, operators are increasingly faced with pressures to upgrade their turbine control systems, an option that carries with it daunting costs, including cost of equipment, downtime for installation and calibration, and re-training of personnel.

On top of that, the software based micro-controller offered by many OEMs as an upgrade leaves the operator with a system that on the one hand is more sensitive to the environment, and on the other hand is opaque: the operator's technicians lack the tools and knowledge necessary to maintain and program the control, leaving the operator dependent on the OEM for all servicing of the control.

GTCC Westinghouse WDPF turbine controls and other products offer an alternative solution to these problems.
