Katronic Technology - Clamp-On Non-Invasive Ultrasonic Flowmeters

Katronic Technologies Ltd specialise in non-intrusive clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters and sensors. These flowmeter systems use both the transit-time and doppler measurement methods. Our ultrasonic flowmeters can be used on various liquid flow applications, including hydrocarbon measurements, produced water monitoring and the maintenance of petrochemical, water or wastewater systems.

Katronic supplies various strap-on sensors and flowmeter configurations including portable, fixed installation and fully ATEX-certified transmitters for hazardous area solutions and offshore environments. The ultrasonic transmitters and sensors are constructed of materials designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions. Both flowmeters and sensors are weatherproof, and the transducers can be supplied with an IP68 rating in order to allow permanent submersion.

As well as clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters, Katronic are able to provide a variety of other measurement systems. These include a range of non-invasive ultrasonic level meters and non-contact level control packages. These level meters are again clamp-on and mounted externally of the vessels.

KATflow 160 – ULTRASONIC FLOWMETER FOR NON-INVASIVE FLOW MEASUREMENT

The KATflow 160 is a purpose-built ATEX Zone 1 certified clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter, designed to meet the stringent industry demands placed on explosion-proof equipment.

The flowmeter is available in both aluminium, and stainless steel and is extremely quick and easy to install. All programming is done using a magnetic pen, meaning that there is no need to access the internal surfaces of the housing. As the flowmeter is completely non-invasive, there is no contact between the sensors and the flowing media. Therefore there is no pressure drop, no risk of corrosion with aggressive media and no lost production during installation and commissioning.

For high temperature flow measurement applications, the KF160 can be supplied with the new Waveguide Sensor Assembly (WSA), which enables the flow sensors to be installed on pipes up to 400°C for permanent operation.

The highly versatile KATflow 160 flowmeter can be applied to all commonly used pipe materials with a diameter of 10mm to 6m and could be used for a variety of applications including:

KATflow 220 - PORTABLE CLAMP-ON FLOWMETER FOR FLEXIBLE METER APPLICATIONS

The KATflow 220 is suitable for clean and dirty liquids and can be applied to all standard piping, including Duplex and stainless steel. Measurements are undertaken non-invasively as the sensors are simply clamped onto the outside of the pipe, thus ensuring that manpower and installation time is kept to a minimum.

The flowmeter has an internal datalogger and is supplied with dedicated software which facilitates the transfer, evaluation and utilisation of the measured data, allowing easy transfer to a variety of Windows®-based applications.

KATflow 110 AND KF120 - FIXED INSTALLATION FLOWMETERS

The KATflow 110 and 120 are wall-mounted ultrasonic flow meters suitable for pipelines of all materials from 10mm to 2,500mm. These standard instruments are intended for clean water, effluent, chemical and sewage applications.

The KATflow 110 successfully matches performance and price in order to offer a cost-effective measurement solution, whilst the more advanced KATflow 120 provides more complex measurement solutions such as energy metering, a two channel multiplexer and large datalogging capability with serial communications.

Katronic flowmeters can be supplied pre-programmed to the operators' requirements and installed in less than one hour, furthermore, as these flow meters are non-invasive there is no risk of blockage, pressure drop or loss of calibration. Maintenance of the clamp on flowmeter is minimal and an occasional visual inspection of the transmitter and sensors is all this is required.
