READ Matre Instruments AS (RMI) is the market leader in making subsea sensors. We utilize quartz crystal technology, micro machined silicone technology, sputtered thin film technology and differential pressure measurement in making these subsea sensors. These products are well known in the marked for its robustness, high reliability, high accuracy and low drift.

We have facilities for production and testing, for example our own EB (electron beam) welding machine and a calibration laboratory where Subsea Sensors are calibrated and tested for combined pressures and temperatures. Our calibration laboratory is fully traceable to international standards.

Subsea Sensors from READ Matre Instruments AS can be made according to customer's requirements when it comes to signal output, like 4-20mA, RS485, Modbus, CanOpen, Profibus etc.

1983 - Matre Instruments AS established.
1986 - RMI launched its down hole gauges.
1987 - Matre Instruments AS began developing a range of Subsea sensors and obtained a key contract with Norsk Hydro.
1990 - READ Group acquired Matre Instruments.
1995 - RMI launched their sputter thin film sensors).
1997 - Dual pressure and temperature sensors introduced.
1998 - Differential pressure sensor developed. Purchase of Electron Beam Welding Machine.
2000 - Co-operation with McCrometer Inc.
2001 - Launch of deepwater differential pressure sensors. Contract to supply High Temperature, High Pressure Transmitters to BP Thunder Horse.
2002 - 240 Subsea Sensors supplied for the Canyon Express Project.
2003 - Development of Subsea remote seal differential pressure sensor initiated.
2004 - Micro machined silicon sensor launched. Major clients request capacity expansion. Major contract obtained for Hydro, Ormen Lange.
