Customised marine elevators for offshore applications

Intended for heavy shipboard use, KONE lifts for offshore applications ensure efficient transportation of people and goods on-board a vessel or a platform. Innovative solutions help save space and increase efficiency of operations. KONE provides customised elevators for the most demanding conditions and purposes.

Personnel lifts for offshore crew

KONE’s personnel lifts for offshore crew have a rated load range from 400kg / four persons to 2,000kg / 26 persons. They have a speed of 1.0m/s (60m/min) or 1.6m/s (96m/min), and a lifting height of up to 40m. They can handle from 180 to 240 starts per hour.

Heavy-duty service lifts for ships

KONE’s heavy-duty service lifts are for transporting a ship’s provisions and stores. They can accommodate pallets and fork-lifts, and can also be provided with smooth and rounded corners to comply with hygienic requirements. They feature durable stainless-steel cladding and floor plate.

KONE’s heavy-duty service lifts have a rated load of up to 10t (10,000kg) and a speed of 0.5m/s (30m/min), 1.0m/s (60m/min) or 1.6m/s (96m/min). They offer a lifting height of up to 40m and door widths up to 1,800mm.

Dumbwaiters for offshore vessels and platforms

KONE’s dumbwaiters for offshore vessels and platforms have a rated load of 100kg - 500kg. They are designed for the transportation of food or small goods (they are not suitable for transportation of people), and they are equipped with a self-supporting shaft and hinged or sliding doors.

Machine-room-less elevators

KONE MonoSpace®, the world’s first machine-room-less elevator invented by KONE, is an ideal solution for the offshore industry. No machine room is needed - all the hoisting equipment is located inside the shaft. Over 300,000 MonoSpace elevators have been installed worldwide since 1996. Compared with conventional elevators, MonoSpace elevators offer:

  • Weight savings of about 15%
  • Up to 60% energy savings (power and air-conditioning)
  • More than 30% reduction in noise level
  • 50% reduction in heat emission of elevator equipment

Gearless hoisting machine for machine-room-less elevators

KONE MonoSpace features the energy-saving KONE EcoDisc® hoisting machine. The KONE EcoDisc gearless hoisting machine is a compact, gearless solution that enables machine-room-less installation of an elevator. It ensures a smooth ride, accurate stopping and reliable operation of the elevator, and consumes up to 70% less energy than a hydraulic drive and 50% less than a traction drive.

The KONE EcoDisc uses a rotational linear motor combined with synchronous axial motor technology. Using a rotor with thin permanent magnets, it has a low rotation speed of 100rpm and a rated hoisting load of 500kg – 10,000kg. It can replace most currently existing solutions.

ISO-certified manufacturer of offshore elevators

In addition to meeting the requirements of the major classification societies globally, KONE uses the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification systems in its production facilities and those of its partners worldwide.

Global service and maintenance for offshore elevators

KONE has global coverage and is present in major ports around the world. Thanks to its skilled field engineers KONE can offer fast service, spare parts supply, repair or replacement of worn out parts, and annual service agreements.
