Cargo lift system

Protea is well-known for delivering high-quality handling equipment, including cranes, winches and launch and recovery systems for the offshore and onshore energy industries.

The most recent addition to its extensive portfolio is a 0.5t SWL cargo lift that was delivered to Knutsen OAS Shipping via its partner Westcon LØfteteknik AS.

The lift system, designed and manufactured system at Protea’s state of the art production facility in Southern Poland, will be installed on the Martin Linge floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel that will be chartered to Total.

The lift is fully compliant with the DNV Lifting Appliance 2.22 standard and will be used to transport cargo from the walkway level to the helideck.

"We have focused on engineering and delivering a high quality system that will give many years of reliable service. The drive system features two electric drive units and two control panels allow precise and smooth control of the cargo lift from the two operational levels. The control system also includes a number of safety devices to ensure the highest possible level of safety during offshore operations," explained Magdalena Dziebor, project manager.

Having completed an extensive factory acceptance test, including load testing and full function testing on a test stand constructed for the purpose, the equipment was delivered to the ‘Remontowa’ shipyard in Gdansk Poland for installation and commissioning by Protea engineers.

"This may be a relatively small project for Protea, but it is engineered and executed to the same high-quality standards as a larger project to ensure the equipment delivered meets the precise requirements of our customer," commented Tomasz Paszkiewicz, managing director.
