Drive and control systems

RUD conveying systems offer optimal material handling solutions for transfer of bulk materials or packaged goods in plants, power stations, energy systems, recycling facilities and mineral applications using calibrated round steel link chains.

RUD designs, produces and supplies complete conveyor systems. The range of complete chain conveyors or screw conveyors are designed and manufactured by RUD with round steel chains to suit a diverse range of applications.

RUD's TECDOS® chain drives are suitable for universal applications and are used in many sectors of industry and offering optimal solutions for conveying, controlling, driving, hoisting, transporting, aligning and pulling all types of loads.

The TECDOS drive system operates drive and hoisting applications for loads ranging from the light to several hundred tons, and are designed to withstand the most severe environmental conditions. The breaking forces of the single chain strands range from 20kN to 1,287kN. The strongest strands can pull loads weighing more than 10,000t or lift goods weighing up to 26t.

Our engineers and technicians work with you to find the optimal approach and can customize drive and control systems for specific offshore applications. TECDOS chain drive systems can be used underwater, offshore or in harbours due to its high resistance to corrosion. The RUD TECDOS system offers a number of well-matched components, drive wheels, guide wheels, pocket wheels and heavy duty chain.

Fall protection equipment

RUD's PSA fall protection anchorage points (PSA) are marked according to DIN EN 365, or one or two persons. The PSA has a safety factor 10:1 and meets requirements of the DIN 50308, DIN EN 795 and OSHA 1926.502.

To guarantee the high safety requirements for the use of personal protection equipment, the PSAs are verified by the German BG (Employers Liability Insurance Association). The components are in accordance with the European Directive 89/686/EWG and market with EN 795 and the CE mark as well as the safe working load limit (one or two persons). Dynamic fall test carried out with 150kg (required are 100kg); proof force: 22,2kN per person.

The test exceeds European requirements.

Lifting and lashing equipment

RUD's stringent and unique testing procedures ensure the highest quality of chain products available. RUD is the world leader in swivel load ring technology, manufacturing heavy duty swivel hoist rings forged from high-tensile alloy steel.

All RUD load rings and bolts are 100% electromagnetic crack tested. Working load limits (WLLs) range from 661lbs (299kg) to 110,230lbs (50,000kg), making these load rings reliable enough for use in most applications that require a heavy duty load rings.
Designed for side loading applications, the RUD lifting ring VLBG can be turned by 360°, guaranteeing full WLL in all load directions. The VLBG has up to a 25% increase in WLL over swivel hoist rings. The load ring is offset from the centre to ensure that the bail won't bind up on the part.

RUD's popular load rings include the VRS-StarPoint® swivel eye bolt, the PowerPoint®-Star swivel lifting hook, and the heavy-duty lifting rings VWBG-V and VWBG. These heavy-duty load rings have a ball-bearing swivel and are suitable for all loads which swivel and tilt, and can be loaded in all directions with a 4:1 design factor; swivelling under full load is permissible provided the inclination angle is not perpendicular to the screw-in direction. Some products may not be suitable for permanent swivelling under full load. RUD swivel eyebolts and load rings can also be supplied with variable thread lengths.
