United Offshore Services - Large Diameter Cable Laid Slings and Grommets

As a global market leader founded in 1993, UOS is focused with its combined experience to produce steel wire rope heavy lifting single laid slings, cable laid slings and grommets (endless slings) for the marine, industrial and especially the offshore market place. UOS can offer a one-stop-shop for a variety of intricate projects.

The office and production facilities are ideally situated close to Europort with local deep water harbour facilities for loading and discharging of barges and sea going vessels.

UOS supplies custom made pennant, towing, anchor, A&R and crane wires for special projects.

SINGLE LAID OFFSHORE-LOOP SLINGS

UOS holds rotating stocks of large diameter steel wire ropes ranging from 44mm (1¾in) up to 102mm (4in) Ø in galvanized finish with steel core (IWRC) in various constructions and lengths suitable for the production of offshore-loops.

Offshore-loop describes the production of a Flemish soft or hard eye termination. The process is a mechanical splicing of the rope over the total length of the eye and thereafter securing the rope ends with a steel sleeve which is swaged under correct tension resulting in a 90% efficiency of the rope MBL.

CABLE LAID ROPE AND SLINGS

We produce cable laid slings ranging from 127mm (5in) up to 520mm (20½in) diameter. The sling is terminated with a hand-spliced soft eye which results in a 75% efficiency of the rope MBL.

CABLE LAID GROMMETS

We produce cable laid grommets up to 520mm (20½in) diameter with extreme length, both short and long and breaking loads up to 17.500Mt. A unique mechanical production process ensures equal tension and more precise matched pairs.

Like the cable laid sling, they are used mainly to install and remove all types of offshore fixed and floating facilities depending on the application.

CUSTOM MADE PENNANT, TOWING, ANCHOR, A&R AND CRANE WIRES

Projects include the supply of 19.300m lengths, 50.8mm (2in) diameter steel wire rope in a single length weighing up to 205Mt each for crane wire application where the tolerance and balance of the wire rope is decisive.

For the lowering of equipment in 10,000ft of water for complex sub sea infrastructures and deepwater pipelines, a special purpose low rotation wire rope has been developed. A model of achievement is a 4,000m length in 138.5mm (5½in) diameter with a unit weight of 335Mt.

ARUNA® CABLE LAID SLING

This 100% synthetic sling offers high strength, low elongation and great form stability where lighter weight or less abrasive hoisting equipment is essential. It is 80% lighter compared to similar strength steel wire rope products and almost a natural buoyant.

CORRECT HANDILNG, STORAGE AND SERVICING OF HOISTING EQUIPMENT

UOS offers correct handling, refurbishing, re-certification, and storage. Using a total equipment management system, it is possible to trace the history, service and most importantly the condition after use. With this additional service, we are able to extend the life span and maintain the equipment for further use giving it a better commercial value.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

UOS has on-site installation and assistance, as well as inspection and re-certification by fully trained and competent persons.

UOS has specially designed mobile spooling device for the handing of large diameter reels weighing up to 110Mt.

UOS has various testing units for proof load and dimensional checks up to 165m length and destruction tests up to 1,300Mt. NDT services are also available.
