Delivering a range of specialised electro-mechanical products and services for use in hazardous working areas, the Oxalis Group offers a wealth of experience in explosion protection built up over many years in the industry. Wherever there are explosive gas-air mixtures or dusts, our solutions prevent explosions.

We are privately owned, based in the UK and certified to ISO 9001. Our products are also fully certified by internationally recognised testing and certifying bodies for IEC Ex and ATEX. We were awarded ATEX QAN 'A' rating by BASEEFA in April 2010 for our continually high standard and maintenance of quality procedures.

Ex lighting and electro-mechanical products and services

Oxalis Lighting (formerly Smith & Prince) specialises in the provision of Ex lighting and electro-mechanical solutions, supplying a wide range of products from handheld lamps to power distribution equipment.

Within our Ex lighting range we offer fixed, temporary and portable hazardous area lighting for use in hazardous areas such as the aviation and petrochemical industries.

LED lighting for the offshore industry

Due for release in 2011 are many new innovative ranges of LED lighting, including torches, handlamps, emergency fittings, obstruction and high-power area lighting, mostly based around the protection concept of intrinsic safety.

Portable / inspection lighting for the offshore industry

We offer the following range of portable / inspection lighting:

• Type 300 C and F portable fluorescent lighting fitting - ATEX approved for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22
• EC Approval Code Exd II 2GD IIB (IIC to follow)
• Optional plug / socket combinations available
• 18W, 36W and 55W versions available; 24V / 48V / 110V / 230V
• Type 600 intrinsically safe LED handlamp - ATEX approved for Zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22

Offshore power distribution units

Our distribution units are the result of several years of design and development, resulting in a system which offers long periods of trouble-free operation with the minimum of attention.

The specification of the power distribution systems are tailored to suit the customer's requirements and can be sited on the front or rear panels. Access to the units is adequate and easy through a large hinged door at the rear face.

Type 440 single-phase power distribution unit

Our type 440 single-phase power distribution unit has the following features:

• Input of 240V AC
• Output of 110V AC
• Front face A 6 IEC 60309-2 (BS4343/CEE17) 2 P&E 110V
• End face B 6 IEC 60309-2 (BS4343/CEE17) 2 P&E 110V
• End face C 6 IEC 60309-2 (BS4343/CEE17) 2 P&E 110V

The unit supplies power at 110V CTE to 18 off sockets to provide power to type 300 C or F luminaries.
