High-Pressure Jointing: Sabic Training

04 November 2008

Hydratight's expertise in high-pressure jointing was enlisted by SABIC Europe during construction of its £200 million low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant - the world's largest, producing 400,000t a year - at its Wilton International site on Teesside.

"To ensure our mechanical staff received the high level of specialist skills and knowledge required to assemble and dis-assemble high pressure jointing, we commissioned Hydratight," said Mike Jones, LDPE training manager at SABIC.

Hydratight, with SABIC, designed a training programme for the 50 staff involved in the assembly and eventual maintenance of the very high pressure joints, covering the theoretic and practical aspects required.

"Feedback from staff was very enthusiastic and the training was very professionally delivered," said Mike. "Technicians now feel completely confident about applying the skills they have learned."
