Toprope is an industrial rope access company providing personnel specially trained to work in inaccessible locations. We specialise in abseiling projects and carry out a wide range of rope access services from maintenance to inspection, as well as supply and installation of work nets and netting walkways.
We use advanced access methods such as double rope techniques as a cost-effective alternative to conventional scaffolding or cradle systems. This offers clients a faster and more flexible solution to most maintenance programmes in difficult-to-reach areas, minimising down-time and lost production.
Toprope takes great care in employing only those who are best suited to the unique nature of the work. Our personnel are class approved to meet the international standards required in the global oil and gas industry and highly skilled in rope access and related activities. In addition, they are all trained and accredited in accordance with relevant SABS codes of practice.
Abseilers are ideally suited to working on offshore installations and rigs. Toprope has been safely and efficiently working on offshore projects for the last ten years. We have worked in 25 countries and all our operators are offshore certified. We are proud of our accident-free record and the quality of our work.

The major constraint with painting offshore is the ability to access structures. Toprope's vast experience in gaining access and working in various environments enables us to offer the most efficient and cost-effective solution to a particular environment.
Toprope has painted flares, jack-up legs, helidecks, FPSOs and VLCC ballast tanks without using traditional scaffolding techniques. These innovative solutions have minimised downtime and interference with routine operations.
Ultra-high water blasting: we supply qualified blasting crews and UHP water blasters. This ensures continuous service of the machines as well as high production rates.
Dry grit blasting: traditional methods of surface preparation are efficiently handled by Toprope operators giving blast profiles for inspecting any location.
Mechanical preparation: localised repairs and time constraints call for innovative solutions. Toprope crews are able to mobilise and access platforms, rigs and ships within short notice anywhere in the world. With modern surface tolerant coatings, a high quality project is guaranteed.
Painting: we work according to stringent quality control procedures ensuring correct application and durability of final products.
Inspection surveys are carried out by qualified inspectors to class requirements. Comprehensive reports are provided in both digital and print format. The inspections cover the general condition of the tanks, coating condition, pre-dry dock surveys, anode assessment and structural inspection.
Toprope's strategic locations in Africa, the Middle East and Europe enable quick and efficient service worldwide. Toprope artisans are also rope access qualified, providing great mobility and flexibility. Scaffolding crews can also be supplied.
