David Richardson

Fine Tubes is pleased to announce the recent appointment of David Richardson as health, safety and environmental manager. As a leading global manufacturer of precision tubing, Fine Tubes is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees and visitors. The appointment of HSE expert Mr Richardson will ensure that Fine Tubes is compliant with the requirements of a rigorous HS&E Management System.

As a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, David Richardson joins the Fine Tubes team with strong expertise in developing, implementing and maintaining HSE best practice. He has gained over 15 years of experience as a safety and environment officer in numerous engineering and manufacturing organisations including Princess Yachts International and Cooper-Standard Automotive. From overseeing ISO14001 and ISO 1800 environmental management systems to providing guidance on technical aspects of HS&E compliance, Mr. Richardson is a specialist in risk assessments, noise and COSHH. His experience lies in all areas of HS&E management, coordination and maintenance and delivering health and safety training.

With 23 years of service in the Royal Navy, Dave’s early career was as a submariner refitting nuclear submarines as part of the ship inspection team. More recently, he has trained as a health and safety lecturer, delivering both internal and external health and safety qualifications.

"In his role as health, safety and environmental manager, Mr Richardson will focus on maintaining Fine Tubes’ high level of assurance with regard to the wellbeing of our employees and visitors to our operations," explains Dr. Richard Fletcher, director of the technical and quality department at Fine Tubes.

"He will be central in our efforts to ensure we limit our impact to the environment and neighbours," he adds. "We were looking for an individual who was passionate about safety and the environment with the ability to maintain the strong safety ethos Fine Tubes already holds. Dave’s substantial experience in industry combined with his excellent people’s skills and personality tick all of those boxes."

David Richardson on his move: "I was looking for a new challenge and having everything under one roof at Fine Tubes allows me to give all my effort to one site as opposed to my previous role where I was looking after three sites."

He continues: "I’m looking forward to working closely with all aspects of the business and hope to bring a variety of health, safety and environmental improvements to enhance the whole company. My move to Fine Tubes has been relatively smooth, everybody has been very helpful. It has brought with it the exciting challenge of implementing HS&E systems within a progressive and leading manufacturer."

Besides his HS&E expertise, Dave is a keen photographer and enjoys spending time with his family and grandchildren.
