Accrete has recently been audited by APPEA and is now approved to deliver the Common Safety Training Program (CSTP).
The intent of the CSTP is to establish an industry-wide benchmark for safety knowledge and skills, aimed at laying sound foundations for a lifetime of safe working.
"By 1 January 2012 anyone working in the offshore Australian oil and gas industry will be required to carry a CSTP card unless they are engaged in activities that are typically less than three days duration and working under direct supervision." (Extract from the APPEA web page et al)
The CSTP is initially focused on new starts to the industry, commencing with offshore operations. However, The CSTP will progressively involve existing personnel and onshore personnel.
The Accrete CSTP is conducted over a three-day period at its purpose-built training facility in Darwin. It comprises the following:
- The safety case and safety management systems
- Work under an issued permit
- Identify hazards and risks
- Contribute to safe working practices
- Control minor incidents
- Respond to an emergency
Accrete intends to deliver the course in January 2012.
