K2 Offers Thermo-Graphic Survey Services

Thermal imaging is a technology that has been available in the industry for some time. It is a very useful way of detecting faults that are not visible to the naked eye, by way of heat mapping.

While the Rig auditor is able to capture faults through visually inspecting systems and components that are found in the rig, thermo-graphic images will provide him with the opportunity to capture faults that may in time, result in the catastrophic failure of equipment.

The years of experience and skills acquired by our senior auditors, provide them with the ability to interpret these thermal images accurately and thoroughly, which leaves almost nothing uncovered during a thermo-graphic survey. Examples of faults that a thermo-graphic survey can uncover are;

  • Overloaded motors
  • Blocked and flawed water-cooling systems
  • Blocked, flawed, or constricted piping systems
  • Seizing bearings and hot spots in bearings
  • Generator and belt misalignment
  • Phase imbalances
  • Broken insulation
  • High resistance
  • Overloaded power systems, including lighting and SCR units

Whether it is provided as a service by itself or as part of a rig audit, rig operators will benefit greatly from a thermo-graphic survey as it definitely reduces the chances of the crew experiencing downtime.
