Enres - Sedimentology and Cyclostratigraphy for Exploration and Development

Enres International BV, registered in the Netherlands, offers specialised services in upstream petroleum geology. Focusing on sedimentology and stratigraphy, we develop and apply a unique software tool, CycloLog®.

E AND P GEOLOGY

Our core business is centered on the ever present need to improve the resolution at which it is possible to correlate between wells. We draw on fundamental properties of the rock record and analytical techniques borrowed from signal processing and geophysics, to build a powerful and near-unique approach to this most central aspect of E and P geology.

Enres' principal activities are:

  • Software development of our flagship product CycloLog®
  • Exclusive consultancy for E and P companies using CycloLog® in conjunction with conventional petroleum geological concepts and tools
  • Multiclient, regional cyclostratigraphic studies for evaluating the presence of additional reservoirs in mature exploration areas
  • Field-based workshops in high-resolution stratigraphy and sedimentology

Our software clients include leading international oil majors, while our track record in exclusive and multiclient studies extends to most global principal oil and gas provinces.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

CycloLog® is a tool-kit of advanced numerical techniques for processing and analysing standard wireline log data. Logs provide an almost unlimited resource of data in a form that is ideal for the methods of time-series (especially spectral) analysis, yet they are seriously under-used for this purpose. Cyclostratigraphy provides the theoretical justification for the search for (geologically) high frequency cyclic signals in stratigraphy. CycloLog® provides the practical means of extracting such signals from log data, yielding the foundation of a high-resolution framework for inter-well correlation. CycloLog® adds value to existing and routinely collected log data without demanding any special acquisition of purpose-specific data.

REGIONAL-SCALE STUDIES

We conduct both exclusive and multiclient studies at the regional, basin-wide scale. CycloLog® analysis of wells is integrated with existing seismo, bio and chemostratigraphic studies, leading to a greatly improved understanding of the sequence stratigraphic development of the basin. Benefits lie in reducing the risk on the resulting geological modeling of the basin.

RESERVOIR-SCALE STUDIES

CycloLog® analysis has the potential to improve on the resolution attainable through other methods by an order of magnitude. By adding another technique, independent of biostratigraphic, chemostratigraphic and other approaches, cyclostratigraphy has the potential to further reduce the risk on reservoir models in field appraisal, development and rehabilitation studies.

FIELD WORKSHOPS

Field studies will always be the means of grounding the sub-surface concepts on which our methods are based. Enres runs field workshops in Spain, Egypt and elsewhere to ensure continuous updating of our underlying theories as well as promotion of our ideas and methods.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Enres supports and encourages research and development in universities and public-domain research institutions. As a further means of keeping our techniques up to date and in line with developments in the wider science of stratigraphy and sedimentology, Enres carries out outcrop studies as reservoir geology analogues and tests its results in existing reservoirs.
