Press Release – Fantoft Process Technologies, Sandvika, Norway, 16th January 2003.
Fantoft has successfully delivered the Engineering Simulator for the Corrib Field Development Project on schedule
Following a successful Acceptance Test at Fantoft’s premises, Enterprise’s Bill McFarquhar and Bob Burniston both expressed their fully satisfaction with the Corrib Engineering Simulator.
The Corrib Simulator is yet another successful joint venture between Fantoft and Scandpower, where Fantoft is responsible for the process plant model, represented in D-SPICE and Scandpower for the subsea model in OLGA2000.
The Corrib Simulator delivery consists of:
·An Engineering Study, performed by Fantoft/Scandpower for verification and modification of the engineering work
·An Engineering Simulator, to be used by Client during the remaining engineering work
·A training simulator to be used for Operator Training
The Corrib reservoir, which was discovered in 1996, lies some 60 – 65 kilometers west of County Mayo, Ireland in 350 m of water.
The field is being developed by Enterprise Energy Ireland Limited.
The development will consist of sub-sea well completions tied back to a common sub-sea manifold. The manifold will, in turn, be tied back to the gas reception terminal via an 89 km, 20" nominal diameter sub-sea pipeline that will make landfall at Broadhaven Bay. There will be a further 7 km onshore pipe run to the gas reception terminal where the gas shall be treated in order to meet BGE specification.
Gas will be exported, from the gas reception terminal, via a newly installed onshore pipeline and onwards into the national transmission system. The anticipated entry point is located some 145 km away at Galway.
The economic life span of the development is estimated at 15 - 20 years.
