Pipeline Management System for Western Libya Gas Project

Fantoft has been awarded a contract by ABB in Italy for delivery of a Pipeline Management System (PMS) for the Western Libya Gas Project (WLGP).

Fantoft delivery will be an online Pipeline Management System interfaced to ABB automation system for two pipelines transporting gas and condensate from Wafa dessert field to Melitah at the Libyan coastline. The gas pipeline is 30" and 512 km, while the condensate pipeline is 16" and 512 km.

The PMS will be based on the D-SPICE state-of-the-art modelling software developed by Fantoft in Norway.

The following main functionality will be included:

-On-Line Pipeline Models
-Leak Detection and Location
-Pipeline Inventory Management
-Scraper Tracking
-Off-line Simulator

The project will be carried out in close cooperation with ABB in Italy.

The WLGP end-user is a joint venture between NOC (Libyan National Oil Company) and Agip-ENI.

In the future, the WLGP plant will be connected with a gas pipeline from Libya to Italy (Sicily) with a maximum capacity of 8 Bcmy.

D-SPICE Pipeline Management System (PMS) is an unique simulation tool for pipelines; singlephase gas and liquid as well as multiphase, used in engineering, operation and supervision.
