Hayward Tyler Group Ltd – a leading manufacturer, supplier and service repairer of pumps and motors – recently welcomed the first three participants to its new Apprenticeship programme.

The four year outreach program, taught with support from the Learning Skills Council, is designed to provide the apprentices with academic and skill-based training for a career in engineering. The participants will receive classroom training at Barnfield Training Services (the local support college); on the job training at Hayward Tyler and continual one-on-one mentoring from assigned Hayward Tyler employees.

Larry Redmond, HR Director at Hayward Tyler, said: "This represents an incredible opportunity for non-skilled workers to develop a bright future in engineering and other high demand trades. The four-year apprenticeship will provide opportunities for the attainment of skills, development of knowledge and the start of a long-term career here at Hayward Tyler."

"As a former apprentice myself, I am grateful to the management and Southbank UK Plc for their support in recommencing the apprentice program. There is a shortage of skilled engineers at this time and we see this as an important part of ensuring the company has the necessary skills in the future," Mr Redmond added.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will have a variety of roles to choose from at Hayward Tyler, including engineering, sales and marketing, and management.
