Saab Seaeye - Electric Powered ROV Systems

Saab Seaeye manufactures a complete range of electric powered ROV systems for all professional applications. The range currently includes portable and work class ROVs.

Saab Seaeye, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saab Underwater Systems, is located in Fareham, Hampshire, UK, with rapid ferries to Europe.

Standard and customised electric powered ROV systems

All Seaeye ROVs come from original specifications developed with ROV companies in the offshore oil and gas industry, where Seaeye ROVs enjoy a market leading position, and companies whose work is in coastal or inshore regions (whose requirements therefore usually require a more portable but equally capable system).

Seaeye's range of standard systems are suitable for almost any requirement, and systems can also be modified to exactly meet clients' needs.

Portable ROV systems

The Seaeye Falcon is a portable but extremely powerful ROV, with its one-to-one power to weight ratio and is the professional solution for depths of up to 300m in coastal and inshore waters. A wide range of standard tools and accessories can be fitted. For deeper operations to 1,000m depth or for tasks that require long umbilicals the Falcon DR is available.

Small electric ROVs

The best selling Seaeye Tiger is the yardstick by which all other offshore oil and gas industry small electric ROVs are measured. Very powerful, easy to fly and rated for operations to 1,000m, the Seaeye Tiger is the industry workhorse for observation, inspection, search, survey and diver support.

Large inspection ROVs

Larger than the Tiger but with similar performance, the Seaeye Lynx has two vertical thrusters, and additional outlets and power supplies for survey sensors. A variety of interchangeable tooling skids can be fitted.

Compact work ROVs

The original Seaeye Cougar was developed in close cooperation with Italian ROV operator DNT Offshore, whose requirements were for a compact ROV requiring the minimum deck space but with a work capability that was to include survey, drill support IRM and touchdown monitoring. This was achieved by creating a series of task-specific tool skids that could be carried by a smaller ROV and changed over quickly.

In 2007 the Cougar-XT compact work ROV was introduced. Power to the vehicle is doubled by increasing the supply voltage from 250VDC to 500VDC, providing 50% extra thrust in all directions.

Specialist survey ROVs

Developed to provide the additional payload necessary for free swimming pipeline survey operations, the 600m rated Seaeye Surveyor Plus specialist survey ROV is particularly popular in the Middle East and Far East as a versatile system for all applications, including drill support with or without a TMS.

Electric work ROVs

The Seaeye Panther-XT new, improved electric work ROV is a development of the successful Seaeye Panther and Panther Plus ROVs. The new benchmark for electric work ROVs, it challenges heavier and more costly hydraulic vehicles, particularly where deck space is at a premium.

Fibre-optic video, a data multiplexer and supplied voltage of 500V are amongst the Panther-XT's advantages. Besides improving handling, this enables it to accommodate a wider range of heavier duty tooling for work tasks including drill support, pipeline survey, salvage and IRM to depths of 1,500m.

The Seaeye Jaguar represents a new era in electric work class ROV design. The largest vehicle in our range, it introduces a new concept in control and power distribution that ensures reliability and complete redundancy throughout the vehicle. With operational depths up to 6,000m, most subsea applications are within its range.

Easy self-diagnostics and the ability to fix problems while the vehicle is working are key parts of the new control software. It gives precise control and is designed with an easy to use interface so that the system can be easily reconfigured. The software's modular design means that future platforms will benefit from commonality of parts, and therefore lower maintenance and spares requirements.

ROV handling and TMS systems

Most Seaeye ROV systems that are larger than a Falcon will be ordered with a launch and recovery system (LARS) that generally comprises a skid mounted 'A' frame, winch, hydraulic power unit (HPU) and sheave. A lock latch or snubber / rotator can be added.

Control and workshop cabins

Control cabins can be provided fully fitted out to your specification. They can be provided for safe area operations or rated for zone II use. Workshop cabins can also be provided combined with the control container or as a separate unit.
