The West Australian owned and operated Hostile Environment Services (HES) has announced a new strategic partnership with major gas distribution company CAC Gas & Instrumentation for the marketing of high purity calibration gases in the West Australian region.
The partnership allows HES to act as the major agent of CAC Gas & Instrumentation in the region and to supply these test gases locally.
CAC Gas & Instrumentation was formed in 2007 to provide exceptional service to customers in Australia and New Zealand looking for specialised calibration and laboratory gases. CAC has a partnership arrangement with global specialist gas manufacturer Scientific & Technological Gases (STG) Ltd. Established in 1996, STG is now the United Kingdom's largest independent manufacturer and supplier of high quality gases for users of analysers and detection systems.
Added value at reduced cost
A recent example of HES's customer-focused approach is the introduction of 112L gas cylinders. These cylinders have the same physical size as a typical 58L cylinder but are able to hold almost twice as much gas due to changes in the design and manufacturing. An immediate benefit of this change for HES's customers is a reduced per litre cost of gas, but there are also savings in other business-critical areas. With about double the gas in each cylinder this presents an opportunity for organisations to save on storage, transport and disposal costs.
"It is all about giving the customer value," says HES shutdown and equipment support manager Bo Aberg. "It is important to us and our partners at CAC and STG to truly meet the customer's requirements and add extra value in every area possible. This has proved to be very useful as there is no cost to change existing cylinders. Clients receive more gas per cylinder and HES has a programme for the disposal of spent gas cylinders."
To ensure that each customer obtains maximum value HES can analyse the cost to the organisation and calculate the benefits that the organisation can expect by making the change.
New disposal solution
Another initiative recently developed by HES is an arrangement whereby customers can call upon HES for the disposal of empty aluminium cylinders. Empty cylinders are often a nuisance in plants, ending up in storage areas which could be used more effectively. Under the new arrangement, when an organisation purchases gases from HES, it can send in empty cylinders for safe and proper disposal. In addition HES will donate $2 to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for each cylinder that is returned.
"We are always looking to help the community where we can," says Aberg. "We decided that a good way to do this would be to help with safe disposal of potentially dangerous cylinders and pass on benefits to children in need through the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation."
