Lea-Der™ Coatings applies safety coatings for a diverse clientele. Lea-Der Coatings has evolved over time from a coating company serving commercial industry and residential supply and installation to become a manufacturing and supply company mainly for the oil and gas industries.

Because Lea-Der Coatings is focused on meeting and exceeding the needs of the drilling industry, it has a gained widespread industry acceptance in both land and marine-based drilling applications.

Polyurethane coating products

Lea-Der Coatings manufactures a variety of polyurethane products including bumper blocks, parts, bushings and traction matting for the drilling industry, and is capable of doing custom projects.

Custom-made industrial polyurethane rotary table and rig floor matting

Lea-Der Coatings foundation product was developed with direct collaboration from the oil companies. Lea-Der traction matting, a custom-made industrial polyurethane rotary table and rig floor matting, has proven to provide safer working conditions in the most challenging environments.

Tough and durable, Lea-Der traction matting has been designed specifically to meet the rigorous requirements of the oil and gas industry. An additional safety component of Lea-Der traction matting is the high visual impact, clearly identifying danger zones in work areas for a safer working environment.

The Hibernia, an offshore platform in the North Atlantic southeast of St John’s, Newfoundland, has Lea-Der matting installed on both of the drilling platforms. To ensure safety in other areas on the Hibernia, Lea-Der Coatings searched for a traction product to compliment their matting and became the Canadian distributor of Safeguard® Technology, a company based in Cleveland, Ohio.

Hi-traction safety covers

Safeguard designs, develops and manufactures quality safety products aimed at maximizing safe working conditions in working and walking areas, by preventing slips and falls. Safeguard hi-traction safety covers are a custom-made, retro-fit product with a wide range of applications.

Step and ladder rung, walkway, and pipe and cable safety covers

Safeguard hi-traction safety covers are made in various traction grits and can be installed to several types of substrate. The covers which include step and ladder rung covers, walkway covers, and pipe and cable covers are easy to install.

Slip resistant specialty flooring

Lea-Der Coatings is also a Canadian distributor for Protect-All® specialty flooring products, made by Oscoda Plastics®. Protect-All specialty flooring is manufactured from 100% post-industrial vinyl for better slip resistance and stain and fire protection. Durable and easy to maintain, Protect-All specialty flooring provides traction in wet or greasy conditions for added employee safety in heavily traveled areas, and is used in Canada throughout the oil and gas industry as well as on commercial projects.

Skid-resistant material

Skid Pro™ is a skid-resistant material that can be applied to cement, asphalt, wood and metal surfaces. Skid Pro is a sealed product and is waterproof, fuel and oil resistant. The product thickness can range between 3mm-5mm. Skid Pro can be applied in most common colors on walkways, steps, or any areas where there are high risks of workers or pedestrians slipping.

Products for the collection of drilling fluids / solids for separation and containment

Specialized tools for drill bit safety

Lea-Der’s Bit Breaker is a specialized tool used by the drilling crew to prevent the drill bit from turning while the bit sub on top of the bit is tightened or loosened. Bits have non-cylindrical shapes, so the conventional wrenches used by the drilling crew to tighten cylindrical shapes like pipes do not fit the bits properly. In addition, some bits, such as PDC bits, have a wide range of unusual and asymmetric shapes or profiles.
