Noreq, the Norwegian manufacturer and supplier of maritime deck equipment, has acquired the Bergen-based davit manufacturer Crevi Davit. The acquisition strengthens Noreq’s focus on the development of maritime equipment, particularly launching arrangements (davits) for lifeboats and rescue vessels.

Together with Crevi Davit, Noreq has already made great progress in developing safer and more functional davit systems. The new products will make the actual process of lowering lifeboats / rescue vessels from ships and offshore vessels safer, and they are better equipped to withstand corrosion and wear-and-tear.

“With access to Crevi Davit’s engineering expertise, we will now develop life-saving products designed to solve several of the known problems which arise after prolonged installation on a vessel,” says Styrk Bekkenes, managing director of Noreq. “We have taken account of stricter safety requirements and are now making fundamental improvements to our products. This will ensure the supply of equipment to our customers for the future,” points out Mr Bekkenes, who is already experiencing great demand from shipyards and shipping companies. Crevi Davit will be incorporated under the Noreq brand.

A subsidiary, Noreq BV, was recently formed in the Netherlands as a step in increasing the company’s presence worldwide.
