Rapp Bomek - Fire and Explosion Proof Doors for Offshore Platforms and Ships

Rapp Bomek AS, part of the Rapp Marine Group, based in Norway, manufactures hinged and sliding fire doors for offshore platforms and ships. These include a new super-lightweight fire door and a wide range of ship equipment including weather tight fire doors. We also pay great attention to offshore maintenance and service of doors.

With origins dating back to 1864, Rapp Bomek is one of Norway's oldest companies within marine mechanical engineering. Since 1978 Rapp Bomek has delivered more than 10,000 doors to the offshore/onshore market.

SUPERLIGHT FIRE AND EXPLOSION-PROOF DOORS

Rapp Bomek has three main types of hinged and sliding fire doors: from the heavy, sturdy type to the range we call light duty. The newcomer is a superlight hinged door that will fit the light duty role, designed by our sister company, Rapp Pyrotec AS, in close consultation with Rapp Bomek.

The door weighs only half as much as the product we used to advertise in the market, and far less than the weight of competing products from other manufacturers. For floating petroleum production and drilling platforms there is a significant reduction in dead weight of 5t for 100 doors.

FURTHER HINGED AND SLIDING BLAST AND FIREPROOF DOORS

As well as the light, medium and heavy duty fire doors, Rapp Bomek also produces aluminium, louvre (mild steel and stainless steel) and explosion proof doors. The range of explosion proof doors consists of hinged and sliding doors, which can take loads up to 1.5 bar static pressure for the hinged door and 2.0 bar static pressure for the sliding door. Both door types have been tested in full size under explosion.

Hinged and sliding doors, with explosion relief panels filled into the door leaf, are also available.

WATER TIGHT AND WEATHER TIGHT FIRE DOORS

Rapp Bomek also manufactures a full range of certified watertight and weathertight hinged doors in combination with A0, A60, H0 and H60 ratings.

OFFSHORE MAINTENANCE

Rapp Bomek has long experience with offshore maintenance and service of doors. The 'Total Agreement' concept developed by Rapp Bomek is today used on a lot of platforms and FPSOs in order to reduce costs for the operators. Today, we have long-term frame agreements with several oil companies to do maintenance and service on fire doors and fire door systems.

FIRE DOOR ORDER REFERENCES

More and more oil field developers are asking for our new, superlight fire doors. Recent orders include the following:

• Rapp Bomek is to deliver all fire doors for Statoil's Kristin oil field development project in the North Sea - roughly 160 doors will be supplied during the summer
• Rapp Bomek is to deliver all fire doors for Statoils`s Snøhvit LNG project in Hammarfest
• During 2002, the company exported to 23 countries and sold products worth a remarkable 107 million kroner
• Rapp Bomek has signed its first order to Brazil - we have landed an order for doors on two oil fields, Caratinga and Barracuda
• Rapp Bomek is presently concluding a major delivery to the Kizomba A and B field in Angola, Ehra in Nigeria, Sakalin Phase 1 in Russia and East & West Azeri and Shah Deniz projects in the Caspian Sea
