The world's leading lifeboat and davit supplier, Schat Harding, has strengthened its Asian service capability with the appointment of a new Far East regional Sales & Service Manager, Andrew Lemmis.
Andrew, who has rejoined Schat-Harding after starting his career with Watercraft Intl in the UK nearly 20 years ago, has spent the past eight years in Asia based in Singapore, China and India where he has been involved in the after sales and service of lifesaving equipment for various LSA manufacturers. He will now be based in Singapore and responsible for strengthening Schat-Harding's service network across Asia.
David Bradley, group manager, after sales and service, says, "With the new SOLAS requirements for compulsory maintenance of lifesaving gear due to come into force in July 2006, owners and operators will need to begin putting in place manufacturer-supported maintenance and testing schemes for their lifeboats, davits and associated gear. With the world's largest in service base of lifeboats and davits, Schat-Harding has to gear up for a major challenge to provide support for all this equipment. Andrew's experience, both technical and of working in Asia, will be invaluable in ensuring owners and operators get the service they need.
"We recognise that the centre of gravity of shipping has moved strongly towards Asia, where so much of the worlds shipping is now owned and operated, so it is of the greatest importance that we have strong networks right across the region."
Brands now supported by Schat-Harding include Watercraft, Waterman, Fiskars, Davit-Company, William Mills Marine, Schat, Harding, Mulder & Rijke and the Beiyang Boatbuilding Co. Schat-Harding has a worldwide network of authorised service agents, and only these are permitted to service this equipment.
