VWS Westgarth is Awarded the Contract for FPSO Espirito Santo

VWS Westgarth, part of Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Single Buoy Moorings Inc. (SBM) for their FPSO Espirito Santo project for the Shell BC-10 field development for location deepwater offshore Brazil.
The award is for the supply of a combined sulphate removal/wash water membrane package of capacity 75,000 BPD/5,000 BPD respectively.
The sulphate removal plant is designed to remove sulphates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery using Dow/Filmtec SR90 membranes. The removal of these ions reduces the tendency of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scale to form in the reservoir. The wash water is used in the crude desalting process.
This is the fifth project of this type to be awarded to VWS Westgarth by SBM, and can be attributed to the success of the previous SRP projects, FPSO Brasil which was completed in 2001, FPSO Capixaba which was delivered in December of last year and the ongoing projects for FPSO Mondo and FPSO Saxi-Batuque, currently under construction in Singapore.
The plant will be engineered in VWS Westgarth's offices in East Kilbride in the outskirts of Glasgow where the company's numbers have grown to more than 125 oil and gas industry dedicated staff.
