The World's Strongest Hot Levelling Machine Provides New Flatness Standards

02 July 2009

At the beginning of May the world's strongest hot levelling machine in heavy plates was set into operation by voestalpine Grobblech GmbH in Linz. The levelling force reaches up to 6,000t and the drive power is more than 5.5MW.

With this levelling machine we set new flatness standards of thick thermomechanically rolled and accelerated cooled plates for offshore applications and of high-strength plates for cranes and vehicles (minimum yield strength of 700MPa).

After an extremely short start-up phase the levelling results confirm a significant improvement in flatness of thick and high-strength TMCP-plates and show the huge potential of this successful investment.
