The Stainless Valve Co.'s Stargate-O-Port™ valves are designed as rugged high performance valves in process applications with high temperature, shock waves, and aggressive flow media. The blade passes through the valve body at both ends, sealed by a PTFE or graphite packing / blade guide combination. There is no metal to metal contact. PTFE or graphite seats are spring-loaded for drip-tight shut-off, independent of the pressure differential. Sizes from 4in to 72in, 150#, 300#, 600# and higher pressures are available. They are made in 304, 316, 317, 2205 stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium. STARGATE O-PORT VALVES CAN HANDLE A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF SOLIDSA major advantage is the capability of Stargate O-Port valves to handle gases, fluids, solids and mixtures thereof. Knife gate valves cannot handle high percentage of solids without jamming the material into the bottom of the valves preventing proper closing. The same holds for butterfly valves, where solids are pressed between the discs and the seats. The ball valves have the disadvantage that in a partially open position the seats are exposed; the flow of material hits the seats and cause damage to the seats. In the Stargate O-Port valves the sealing areas of the seats are away from the flow and thus are protected from premature wear. O-Port valves are used for example as isolation valves on process gas in PTA manufacturing, mixing pumps, bleaching towers, batch digesters, continuous digesters, blow tanks, washers, stock pumps, liquor heaters, liquor supply lines, lime storage bins, recovery boiler, green liquor, pulp storage tanks, manifolds for high consistency material, fly ash bin, filling valves on reactors, catalyst recycling reactors. The valves have a triple function as shut-off valve, line blind and flow control valve. ULTRASONIC VALVE POSITIONERAn ultrasonic probe measures the travel of the valve blade. One probe is used for any size and stroke of valve by appropriately "training" the probe. The EP 2000 works with a 4mA to 20mA signal from the customer's DCS system. Normally at a 4mA signal the valve is completely closed, at 20mA completely open. The probe can also be trained to use 4mA to 20mA signal for partially opening and closing the valve, for example 4mA for 30% open, 20mA for 60% open. The EP 2000 positioner provides connectors to the customer's DCS system for "valve open", "valve closed" indicators and push-buttons for operation. REDUCED DOWNTIME WITH BIG SCREEN™Stop production, take flanges loose, drop pipes and replace clogged-up screens is a frequent task. Big Screen reduces the down time for maintenance purposes. There are applications in steam outlet lines on continuous digesters, and back up screen behind the rotary screen for the recovery boiler, reducing possible plugging of the heat exchangers and burners.
