TODO is pleased to display the new safety break-away coupling at the 2011 Offshore Technology Conference, 2-5 May, on the Gardner Denver Inc, booth number 5849.
Bengt Granholm, sales manager at TODO, says: "When loading / unloading oil, gas or chemicals, safety is very important as an incident could result in serious injury or damage to the environment or equipment."
"Our new safety break-away coupling is designed specifically to minimise the spillage and damage associated with these kinds of incidents.
"If the vehicle starts to roll away during loading / unloading the safety break-away coupling reacts as soon as the hose or loading arm has an excessive load and closes the valves automatically. No spillage or damage occurs after the coupling has broken apart."
The safety break-away coupling is installed on the hose or loading arm, operating independently of shut-off systems and does not require an external power source. It is available in sizes from 2in to 4in in stainless steel or aluminium. FKM seal is standard. Other sizes, materials and seals are available on request. The coupling performs at an exceptionally high flow rate with a working pressure up to 40 bars.
TODO will also display the TODO-MATIC dry-break coupling, commonly used for operations on supply vessels for the safe loading and delivery of hazardous liquids and gases. Environmental concerns, safety and operational benefits are the main reasons why major offshore explorations choose TODO-MATIC dry-break couplings.
TODO-MATIC dry-break couplings are available in sizes from 1in to 6in in stainless steel, aluminium and brass.
