Advanced Valve Solutions Supplies Valves for Two Major Projects

Advanced Valve Solutions (AVS) has recently finished two major projects, where AVS supplied all valves and hot stabs for both a temporary subsea pig launcher and a receive station for pipe laying services.

In total, AVS supplied about 50 temporary 4in 2,500# trunnion-mounted subsea ball valves, 30 2in floating ball valves and several 1in ball valves, as well as check valves in various sizes.

Trunnion-mounted ball valves have been proven to be superior to floating valve designs, as there is reduced risk of uncontrolled torque increase after periods of non-operation. This increase of torque makes the operation of the valve difficult for the ROV.

The orders were completed with the supply of several newly-developed special hydraulic 4in stab connector systems. This system is a solution for the time-consuming operation of larger size hot stabs, especially in deep waters of 2,500m or more.

The actual 4in hot stab is operated by a small API 6A dual-port hot stab, which is operated by the ROV. The hydraulic pressure available from the ROV operates the 4in hot stab in a smooth, reliable way.
