Lawrence Eagles joined the International Energy Agency (IEA) in 2003, and became head of the oil industry and markets division / editor of Oil Market Report in March 2005, heading the team of analysts responsible for short-term oil market analysis. Lawrence authors the 'market overview' section of the IEA's benchmark publication, Oil Market Report, as well as overseeing the production of the recently-launched Medium-Term Oil Market Report.

Additionally, the division advises member governments through the agency's standing group, as well as liaising closely with the trading, analytical and corporate planning departments of industry.

Prior to joining the IEA, Lawrence was a well-known specialist in energy and metals at major European brokerage, GNI. He joined the company as a graduate trainee, gaining experience across a wide range of financial and commodity markets, spending several years as a fund manager before taking over as head of research.
